Covenant Community Care Clinic

covenant

Amigos members do a great deal of volunteering at CCC! We also have a fundraiser for the clinic every year with the clinical skills night. There are many patients, especially Hispanic, that you can interview and take vitals on. It's great practice for the OSCE and great experience! You can sign up to volunteer for a 4-hour timeslot in Scott Hall.

For some helpful Spanish phrases and additional information on how to volunteer there, please click here.

CHASS Clinic

http://www.chasscenter.org/

CHASS is (as stated in their website): "The Community Health and Social Services (CHASS) Center, Inc. is a community –based, not-for-profit organization formed to develop, promote, and provide comprehensive, accessible and affordable quality primary health care and support services to all residents of the community, with emphasis on the underserved African American and Latino populations in Detroit."

As WSUSOM student volunteers, about 75% of the patients we see there are Spanish-speaking.  We get to shadow doctors, practice interviewing in English & Spanish, take vitals, and do physical exams.  By volunteering at the clinic, students are able to see a variety of patients from family practice to pediatrics to OB/GYN.  There is also exposure to social work, public health, and nutrition representatives as well as an in-clinic pharmacy that provides low-cost drugs to the patients.

You can sign up for CHASS at the same location as CCC.
