I'm
from

I
attended
Western

where
I
majored
in
biomedical
science
and
Spanish. |
I have
been
involved with
Amigos
ever
since
I
started
medical
school.
I
volunteer
regularly
at
Covenant
clinic,
and
went
on
the
Amigos
trip
to
Mexico
over
spring
break.
I've
had
several
opportunities
to
travel
to
Spanish-speaking
countries
in
the
past
- I
studied
in
Spain
for 3
months,
did
clinical/healthcare
research
in
Guatemala
for 1
month,
and
most
recently
traveled
with
Amigos
to
Mexico
over
spring
break. |
In
the
2008-09
year,
I
hope
to
see
Amigos
continue
its
tradition
of
providing clinical,
educational,
and
research
opportunities
to
medical
students.
I
would
also
like
to
see
Amigos
grow
as an
organization,
branching
out
into
community
service,
bringing
in
more
speakers
to
give
presentations
on
medical
issues
relevant
to
the
Hispanic
community,
and
introducing the
members
to
more
cultural
events. |
For
fun I
like
to
play
the
piano,
read,
watch
movies,
sleep,
etc... |
My
responsibilities
with
Amigos
include
planning the
yearly
calendar,
planning
and
running
the
board
meetings,
and
working
with
the
other
board
members
to
make
sure
Amigos
accomplishes
all
of
its
goals. |

Majored in Spanish Language and Literature
in Undergrad, have always been invested and interested in hispanic culture and
language. Also enjoy working with and trying to increase healthcare
opportunities for underserved communities.
Served as a 1st year representative on the Amigos Medicos
board last year and planned and coordinated the first year trip to Mexico, as
well as attended the National Hispanic Medical Association annual conference.
I have also volunteered at Covenant clinic, |
In addition to continuing to reach it's goals, I
hope that amigos can grow as an organization, and provide even more
opportunities to medical students for service and learning. I also hope
that the general body members and the board can create a cohesive group to
accomplish even more. I am also working to begin health-related public
service announcements on local spanish radio stations. |
Dancing, anything outdoors, movies, traveling and
exploring, and speaking spanish! |

Spain, and Argentina.

I minored in and tutored Spanish while in undergrad. I
also taught Spanish at the
PULSE
Academy (an umbrella organization of the Black Medical Assn).
In my first year with Amigos I was an active participant
of the language sessions and I
shadowed
doctors at CHASS clinic. |
I believe that learning
Spanish is definitely one of the ways to increase a physician’s
accessibility with diverse patient populations. I want to create a
solid and consistent language curriculum in an open environment for students
that are eager to learn or further their medical Spanish. |
Drawing/painting, moderate weight-lifting, studying
Spanish
|
I will teach/lead language sessions as well as coordinate
scheduling for students interested
in shadowing doctors at CHASS Clinic.
